One story tell us that donuts were made in North America by the Dutch Shelter in the 19th century by the name of OilKoek or Oil cake. In 1847, an American claimed that he was the inventor of the ring shaped donuts. He claimed to be dissatisfied with the original greasy ball donuts. So, he punch a hole on his donuts and teach the technique to his mother. The first cookbook that mentioned Donuts in one of its recipe was found in 1803. And in the mid-19th century, donuts was looking as donuts looked now.
