This dessert requires no baking and is popular across North America. The name of the cake is named after a west coast city Nanaimo, British Colombia. In Canada, this dessert was popular starting from 1985, and by 1988, this dessert was sold on Colleges and Campuses all through Ontario.

Butter Tart
This little dessert is highly regarded in Canada and is considered as a Canadian classic dessert. This dessert consist of butter, syrup, sugar, and egg baked until half solid and crunchy on top. Butter Tart shouldn't be confused with other tart, cause it has runnier filling. The origins of this tarts recipe is unclear, but this tart is commonly eaten on English-speaking region on Canada.

Date Square
Date Square is a coffee cake made with cooked date palm and oatmeal or ground nuts as crumb layer. In Western Canada, this dessert is known as Matrimonial Cake. This dessert is often found on coffee shops as a sweet snack while drinking coffee or tea.
